About the Course

This short course focuses on the use of technology in interpreting. Presentations on telephone interpreting from industry representatives and an experienced telephone interpreter provide a practical advice on this mode of interpreting that is increasing in frequency. A mock interpreted assignment will be enacted through video-link technology between speakers who are physically remote to each other. Protocols and strategies relevant to remote interpreting will be demonstrated and discussed.

Participants will also be able to earn professional development points towards revalidation of their NAATI accreditation and renewal of AUSIT membership. Completion of this short course will earn participants 40 PD points.

Duration

The short course is held over three sessions and is 15 hours in duration. This includes 9 hours of face-to-face sessions and 6 hours of online work and self-study.
