First in the Family Welcome Lunch Review

Over finger food and refreshments, we celebrated the beginning of the First in the Family Program at Clayton campus for 2017. Our first event was a huge success with a welcome lunch providing the opportunity for staff and students to mingle and share stories about being in the first generation of their family to attend university. The lunch marked the beginning of what will be a multi-faceted program which seeks to give students academic and social support as they transition to university. Through the program, first in the family students will be appointed an academic mentor to assist them with adjusting to university study demands, in addition to their social mentor through the PAL program. If you’re in the first generation of your family to attend university, make sure to get in contact with the First in the Family program to take advantage of the social opportunities and support!
