Shih Joo Tan

Shih Joo comsirupleted her undergraduate studies at Melbourne University in 2015 and joined Monash as a Master of Arts student in 2016. Her research looks at the role of anti-trafficking measures in contributing to the welfare and empowerment of foreign domestic workers in Singapore and Hong Kong.

The research aims to examine how foreign domestic workers understand and engage with the ideas as well as practices of security and protection. Through this analysis, the research further seeks to understand how concepts of exploitation in domestic work are constructed and incorporated within regulatory systems.
