Campaign to end racial profiling in Victoria

We’re pleased to support the Flemington and Kensington Community Legal Centre Peer Advocacy Team with their new campaign to end racial profiling in Victoria. The campaign includes a video and a call to send a letter to Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, the Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton and other key Victorian Ministers for a racial profiling monitoring scheme in Victoria to prevent police targeting people based on race The video has been created by the the Team to show the basic impacts of racial profiling and reflect the experiences of young people and their friends and speak truth in the face of the overwhelming racial bias and harmful stereotypes in the media.

We are in support of this project based on our research on internal border policing including ‘Migration Policing‘, ‘Globalisation and the Policing of Internal Borders‘ and ‘Prejudice Motivated Crime‘.
