Arts ISP application process – Current Monash students

For all Arts International Study Programs (ISPs) including Prato units (except Internships in Prato – see application process further below):

  1. Ensure you meet the eligibility requirements.
  2. Obtain Course Advice and permission to do the International Study Program (ISP) from the Managing Faculty of your course. Follow the relevant procedure for your course:
    • Arts only course: If you wish to count an Arts ISP towards a single Arts course, you must obtain written Course Advice from the Faculty of Arts confirming that the ISP will fit your course progression. There are two ways you can do this:
      • Book a Course Advice appointment with Arts Student Services via your my.monash portal. Print and take this Course advice form to your appointment then submit the completed and signed form with your application.
      • Request a Course Progression Check online. This must specify the unit name and code of the particular Arts ISP(s) that you wish to do. Submit the email response you receive with your application.
    • Double degree:
      • If you wish to count an Arts ISP towards the Arts part of a double degree whose Managing Faculty is not Arts, you must obtain written Course Advice from the Faculty of Arts (see instructions above), AND, if the Managing Faculty of your double degree is Business and Economics, or Art, Design and Architecture, you must also ask the Managing Faculty to endorse your application (by their Student Services staff signing and stamping page 2 of the ISP form; you should take your Arts Course Advice to show them). You should be aware that your application to do an Arts ISP can only be approved on the condition that you will be available to sit your non-Arts exams during the University examination period (you will not be able to defer non-Arts exams in order to participate in an Arts ISP).
      • If you wish to count an Arts ISP towards the non-Arts part of your double degree, see ‘non-Arts course’ procedure below. You should be aware that your application to do an Arts ISP can only be approved on the condition that you will be available to sit your non-Arts exams during the University examination period (you will not be able to defer non-Arts exams in order to participate in an Arts ISP).
    • non-Arts course: If you wish to count an Arts ISP towards a non-Arts course, you must obtain written Course Advice and approval from the Managing Faculty of your course. You should be aware that your application to do an Arts ISP can only be approved on the condition that you will be available to sit your non-Arts exams during the University examination period (you will not be able to defer non-Arts exams in order to participate in an Arts ISP).
  3. Complete the relevant ISP application form. Find the relevant form here:
  4. Provide a copy of your Australian bank statement (showing bank name, BSB, account name, and account number, for the purpose of depositing the Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship into your account; we do not need any information about the funds in your account so feel free to delete that section).  If you are a Monash Malaysia or Monash South Africa student, you need to complete and submit this TT form.
  5. Provide a copy of your valid passport (the page with your photo and details). If you need to apply for a (new) passport, this can be submitted at a later stage.
  6. Check the program costs and pay the application fee* via the Monash University ecart. Provide a copy of your receipt with your application. Please ensure this shows the receipt (rather than order) number. Find your program costs and the application fee ecart link:
  7. Submit your complete application to Arts Student Services (Clayton: Level 2, Building 11; Caulfield: Room H5.102, Level 5, Building H) by the closing date**. Students enrolled at Clayton and Caulfield campuses should submit their application in person. Other students may submit their application by email to the Arts in Prato Coordinator from their Monash student email account. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

*Please note that application fees are not refundable except in the case that your application is not successful. Read the full refund policy.

**However, applications will be assessed based on the eligibility criteria in the order in which they are submitted and on a ‘first in, first served’ basis until the maximum quota is reached. Applications by fully eligible Monash students (i.e., without waivers), will be endorsed first. Applications with waivers or from non-Monash students will be considered after those of fully eligible Monash students and only if there are places available after the application closing date.

Application outcome: You will receive an email notifying you of the outcome of your application (allow approx. six weeks for processing). Successful applications will then be forwarded to Monash Abroad for processing of the Travel Scholarship, OS-HELP loan, and complimentary travel insurance.

NB: For the Music – Overseas study program (New York or Prato), eligible applicants will be invited to an audition following which the successful applicants will be selected. Please note that selection will also be subject to ensemble size and associated instrument make-up.
