In-Country Languages

  • Offered by our School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, these programs provide students with with intensive language and cultural studies in-country.  Students earn credit points towards their Monash degree with studying and travelling abroad.

    In-country programs run from 3 – 10 weeks and are typically run during the summer break between November and February.

    Chinese In-Country Program

    Great Wall of China and ShanghaiThe Monash Chinese In-country Program (CIP) is a Chinese language summer course held at our Chinese partner universities – Shanghai International Studies University(SISU) in Shanghai andthe University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing. 

    The program allows students to complete one or two Monash University Chinese units within 3 or 6 weeks in the Chinese language and cultural environment. 

    The program is run every year and starts in late November ending in mid December (3-week program) or early January (6-week program) the following year.

    Italian In-Country Program

    Monash Prato CampusIntensive studies in Italian are offered each semester (including Summer and Winter) at the Monash Prato Centre in Italy. Students can choose to complete one or a combination of units that explore Italian language and culture.

    Students often combine intensive studies in Italian with other Arts short-term programs offered at the Prato Centre, and in doing so are able to complete 2 units in the space of 3 – 6 weeks.
