Our environmental sociology research group examines the relationships between people and their natural and built environments, with a particular focus on how to create liveable and resilient cities.  Specific areas of research include:

  • communities and behaviour change
  • strategic planning
  • institutional change and capacity building processes
  • environmental governance
  • green infrastructure and landscapes.

The group has particular expertise in water governance, and explores many of these areas in relation to water management in Australia and internationally. This research stream also has a strong practical implementation focus providing guidance for policy makers and industry.
