Completing a PhD at Monash was exciting and enjoyable. I was fortunate to have two very patient supervisors who offered endless support and calmly led me through my many bouts of confusion and uncertainty. The other staff in the school were also amazingly helpful and ever willing to answer questions or provide advice. Activities run by PSI such as HDR symposiums provided excellent opportunities to meet with fellow students, hear about their projects and present my own findings. I was also encouraged to attend conferences to present papers based upon my research. This was a wonderful and inspiring experience as I was able to meet with and listen to eminent sociologists from around the world.
My fellow HDR students have become firm friends. Together we travelled the stimulating path to PhD completion. We shared so many discussions, gave each other encouragement and had many, many coffees and lunches.
