Gender and Family Violence: New Frameworks in Prevention

In 2015, the Andrews Labor Government announced a Royal Commission Into Family Violence. Headed by Justice Marcia Neave AO, formerly Dean of Monash Law School, the Commission will address prevention, family support systems, and justice responses.

Monash Faculty of Arts has offered exceptional support for a new Focus Research Program.

The Gender and Family Violence: New Frameworks in Prevention program aims to enhance women and children’s security by creating new knowledge about the risks of family violence and family violence homicides. The program will develop an evidence base for reforms aimed at effectively implementing a more risk sensitive approach to family violence and reducing the associated harms to women and children.
