The award is available to Australian citizens, Australian Permanent Residents and international applicants.

Commencing or continuing music performance student in a postgraduate research degree in the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at a Monash campus in Australia.

The awardee must undertake research in classical violin performance studies and participate in the Monash Academy Orchestra.
