The History Department invites you to the launch of:
A History of Australia
by Mark Peel and Christina Twomey
to be launched by Marilyn Lake
The story of Australia, and its place in the world, is one shaped by the movement and mobility of people. A History of Australia brings to life the ideas, hopes and journeys of Australians both past and present: from the very first settlers thousands of years ago to the great migrations of recent centuries, and to those living within the more anxiously controlled borders of the present-day.
Drawing on political debate, official reports, intellectual discussion and popular culture, it weaves together a vivid, multi-dimensional history that frames key cultural, social, political and economic events and issues against the wider global context. Comprehensive in both its chronological and geographical reach, this is essential reading for all those seeking an authoritative and engaging overview of Australian history.
RSVP: via online link no later than Monday 12 March at 5pm.
