The Faculty offers its congratulations to Dr Catherine Mills on her sustained record of publications and research outcomes as well as winning the 2013 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher. Congratulations also to Adam Clulow who has been highly commended.
Dr Mills graduated with a PhD in the discipline of Philosophy from the Australian National University in December 2003. Since gaining her PhD, she has worked full-time as a teaching-research academic, joining the Centre for Human Bioethics at Monash University in early 2012. Dr Mills is recognized internationally for her innovative research program, which combines the fields of bioethics, feminist philosophy and contemporary continental philosophy. Her track record in the past five years includes two research monographs and 15 refereed journal articles and book chapters. The excellence of her research is recognized by the award of a prestigious Australian Research Council Future Fellowship in 2012.
Dr Mills’ research publications have been independently assessed as being of high quality or impact (she has an h index of 9 and has been cited 250 times in the past 5 years, according to Google Scholar). The originality and quality of her research is outstanding having been described by reviewers as ‘brilliant’, ‘excellent’ and potentially transformative of the field of bioethics.
