Room Access

General operating hours for the PAC building are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

After-hours is defined as 6pm to 7am and 6pm, or weekends – during this time the building can only be accessed by ‘Proxy Card’ (i.d. card), or by prior arrangement. The building can be accessed 24 hours per day.

Please note: only current Bachelor of Music Monash students are permitted to rehearse in the PAC.

Please note: Music Auditorium (G36), Music Room One (G01), Music Room Two (G02), Music Room Three (G06), Percussion Room (G31), Room 226, Chamber Room 121 are on a 7am – 11pm schedule and are not accessible 24 hrs. Ensemble room 10 and Ensemble room 11 have 24hr access

For practice rooms G04, G05, G07, G08, G10, G11, G12, G40, G42, G43, G44, G45, G46 and G47

You will need to write your name on a booking sheet – these are posted on the notice board outside office 106A at 8:50am each Monday morning.

Conditions:

  • Students cannot make bookings for other students – the booking must be for you;
  • Regular bookings for teaching are pre-booked, the remaining times for students are available on a “first come first served” basis;
  • Access is by Proxy Card entry for all PAC staff and students – Security staff will not provide access;
  • Piano stools and benches are not to be moved without prior permission;

Due to teaching bookings, student bookings may be removed without notice.

For Music Auditorium (G36), Music Room One (G01), Music Room Two (G02), Music Room Three (G06), Percussion Room (G31), Ensemble Room 10 (G41), Ensemble Room 11 (G37a), Room 226 and Chamber Room 121:

Make a booking through the Resources Office – room 201. Please see Grace Chong. Bookings can also be made by calling 9905 1233 or emailing arts-pac-room-bookings@monash.edu.

Conditions:

  • After hours use must be booked by 3.30pm on the day of the booking, and by 2.30pm on Friday for weekend bookings;
  • Access for these rooms is by FOB, which must be collected from room 201 by 4.30pm on the day of the booking, and by 4.30pm on Friday for weekend bookings, FOB`s may also be obtained from PAC Resources/Technical Staff up until 8pm – Security staff will not provide access;
  • Students cannot make bookings for other students – the booking must be for you;
  • No more than six students allowed are in any room during after-hours periods;
  • A maximum of three multiple bookings for these rooms can be made at any one time – further bookings can only be made after the original bookings expire (this rule may vary during exam preparation periods);
  • More than three multiple bookings can only occur through prior arrangement with the relevant Coordinator;
  • Music Room Two (G02) is only available to classical piano students.
  • Percussion Room (G31) is only available to classical percussion students and for percussion/drum teaching.
  • During examination periods, and the lead up to examination periods, access to the Auditorium may be heavily restricted.

Computer Lab (204)

Use your Proxy Card (i.d. card) – see below.

Conditions:

  • The computer lab is only available to Bachelor of Music students;
  • Security will not provide access;
  • It has a printer pay system. Instructions on how to credit your print account can be found at http://www.its.monash.edu.au/students/printing/credit.html;
  • For any computer and printing problems contact the student IT helpdesk on 9903 2777;
  • Copyright issues apply to the use of networked computers – see section on copyright.
  • Occasionally, this room is used for classes. In that instance, the computer lab will be inaccessible.

Composition Lab (149)

Make a booking through the Resources Office – room 201. Please see Grace Chong.

These facilities are only available for coursework activity in Music Composition or post graduate studies. After hours use must be booked by 2.30pm on the day of the booking, and by 2.30pm Friday for weekend bookings.

General Requirements

  • Bookings which are not attended within 10 minutes of their start time are automatically forfeited (unless the person who made the booking contacts a Resources Officer beforehand);
  • Students who regularly book rooms and do not use them, may lose access to facilities;
  • Students should contact Security on arrival in the building, or they may be required to leave;
  • Security is not authorised to provide access to facilities.
