Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music presents:
Vince Jones in Concert with Monash Jazz & popular studies staff & students
The Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University is very proud to present Australia’s leading jazz vocalist Vince Jones in concert with students and staff from Monash University at Melbourne’s premier jazz club Bennetts Lane.
Since his career began more than 30 years ago, Vince Jones has released 14 albums to critical acclaim. Though never a mainstream artist, he has always been popular, demonstrated through album sales and audience numbers. He has toured extensively in Europe and the US and continues to play regularly to loyal fans around Australia.
Jones is renowned for both his unique interpretation of jazz standards and his original compositions delivered in a contemporary jazz style that appeal to both listeners and musicians alike. The combination of his unmistakable voice, thought provoking lyrics and subtle trumpet playing makes for a refreshing and often moving performance.
Vince Jones will rehearse with music students under the direction of Monash staff member and Vince Jones alumni Sam Keevers. This will culminate in the concert at Bennetts Lane and a CD recording to be released on Australia’s leading record label – Jazz Head records.
