Liane and Dobbs Explore Wagner and Brahms
Liane Keegan – Dramatic contralto, Dobbs Franks – Piano
This will be a program of two of the most wonderful masterpieces of 19th-century German vocal cycles for voice and piano. First will be the Wesendonck Lieder by Richard Wagner with poems of Wilhelm Muller. This cycle will be followed by the Four Serious Songs (Vier ernste Gesange) of Brahms. The Wagner includes what he considered studies for his opera Tristan und Isolde. On the other hand Brahms turned to the bible for his texts and inspiration.
