Existing and enrolling students in the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University who want to brush up on their music theory or who have not done music music theory in the past, are invited to enrol in the following Western music theory course:

Introduction to Western Music Theory

Coordinator: Associate Professor Thomas Reiner

Four x 2 hour sessions

Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 February 2013 - 12 noon – 2pm, 3pm – 5pm

Music Room 1, GO1, Building 68, Monash University, Wellington Road, Clayton

Required materials

(1) Textbook: Harmony and Voice leading, by Aldwell and Schachter (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich College Publishers). This is the Western music theory textbook used for 1st-year and 2nd-year music theory. The book is available at the Monash University Bookstore at Clayton Campus.

(2) Music manuscript paper (A4 size), soft pencil and eraser.
