Handel’s Messiah is traditionally Christmas fare. It enjoys a worldwide popularity and particularly at Christmas time is performed in all sorts of places by all sorts of people.
This September it will be possible to have a different kind of Messiah experience. The Monash University Singers will perform this masterpiece in its entirety at the Richmond Uniting Church. The Messiah is always an inspiration, but this performance will be made up of students, most of whom will have never performed the entire work complete, if at all.
The first time one experiences anything is always a special time. For these fortunate young people this experience will be something they will never forget and since for most will be a first, it will never be possible to repeat. The power of this work has intensified over the years and it seems it will never diminish but on the contrary will continue to inspire and move people from here to eternity.
