Dr Paul Watt, a senior lecturer in musicology in the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, has been awarded a European Union Seventh Program Senior Research Fellowship.
Dr Watt will undertake the Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Study and the Centre for Nineteenth Century Studies at Durham University. The Fellowship will enable Dr Watt to start work on his next book, Music and Social Reform in the Nineteenth Century. Dr Watt will work Professor Bennett Zon to develop this and other new research projects and to establish a formal research partnership between Durham and Monash in nineteenth-century studies.
Music and Social Reform in the Nineteenth Century will be a major new interdisciplinary project that incorporates socio-legal studies, philosophy, history, economics, literary history and musicology.
Dr Watt will undertake the Fellowship in January and February 2016.
