From 2016 the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music will offer students the opportunity to undertake a Choral Voice study option within the Classical Voice program. This study option will have particular relevance to students wishing to be music teachers in schools that have strong choral traditions or in schools wishing to develop such a tradition. Skills gained as a result of undertaking the Choral Voice study option will also potentially lead to students being professional Church Musicians, in Australia and abroad, and/or a member of a professional choir or vocal ensemble, in Australia and abroad.
Those admitted into the Choral Voice study option are taught in groups of up to four students so as to constantly develop vocal skills while singing in harmony. Students will also study various aspects of vocal technique, vocal health, conducting techniques and strategies for clear ensemble direction as well as undertaking numerous performance opportunities.
