Abstract

Stories of Climate Change

Over 10 years ago, in an issue of Granta, environmentalist Bill McKibben lamented the fact climate change has not been able to capture the public imagination to the extent that threats of war or nuclear apocalypse were able to do last century.  But the need for a narrative form that can communicate the seriousness of climate change to a broad public is more urgent than ever. In this seminar, we bring together an analysis of three different narrative approaches to addressing climate change: cli-fi, story-telling the impacts of climate change on everyday life, and science communication and education publishing.
