Monash Asia Institute Bulletin September 2016

Monash Asia Institute Bulletin  – September 2016

From the MAI Director’s Desk

Many inspiring events are awaiting us in September. We will have the inaugural public seminar, From Asia literacy to Australia literacy, which MAI has jointly organised with Immigration Museum, Melbourne. Please RSVP by 7 September. MAI is also co-organising the 7th Asian Translation Traditions Conference at Monash Sunway campus in Malaysia. Do not forget that the call for papers for our international conference, Trans-Asia as method (in Prato, June 2017) is still open. Furthermore, there will be two seminars organised by the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, an international conference organised by Sir Zelman Cowan School of Music, and two events that MAI is co-organising with South Asia Research Network (SARN) & Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability (CDES) and with the Centre for Global Business. Last but not the least, we are delighted to make an announcement that MAI has been awarded the Australia-Japan Foundation Grant 2016-2017. The project aims to promote the exchange and collaboration between Immigration Museum in Melbourne and Tokyo over the issues of trans-Asian migration. Please check all the details in this bulletin and the linked webpages!
