This conference is designed as an opportunity to reflect on the past, present and future of Japanese Studies in Australia. It will bring together distinguished alumni of the Monash University Japanese Studies program, current academics and postgraduate students from across Australia to share experiences and research findings and to re-affirm a shared commitment to fostering critical understanding of Japanese culture and society and stronger ties between Australia and Japan. The conference is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the teaching program in Japanese Studies at Monash University.
The conference will feature keynote presentations by alumni of Monash Japanese Studies and a series of research presentations by postgraduate students from universities around Australia. The presentations will be of interest to academic researchers, secondary and primary school teachers, policymakers and businesspeople engaged with Japan.
