We are excited to announce that national and international award winning filmmaker, Anand Patwardhan, will be joining us at the ASAA 2014 Conference as a guest speaker. For four decades, Patwardhan has been making political films that pursue diverse and controversial issues that are at the crux of social and political life in India.

His latest film, ‘Jai Bhim Comrade’ will be screening followed by a question-and-answer session with Patwardhan himself on Tuesday 8 July.

“…an astonishing body of work whose profound commitment to radical change offers an experience like few others in contemporary cinema.” [A cinema of songs and people: The Films of Anand Patwardhan,’ Tate Modern, 2013].

The exhibition consists of moving image, photography, painting and sound to display the cross-cultural relationships between Korea and Australia. This is the first time the Berndt Museum’s Korean collection has been on public display, providing ASAA 2014 conference attendees with a unique opportunity to view this rare material.
