Field Research Support and Travel

Field Research Support and Travel Grants are open to application from students who will need extra funding for their field research/conference travel.

Deadlines: 

  • Applications are accepted throughout the year,
  • Funds must be expended by a set date – 2013 date TBC

Conditions: 

Each student can only apply once during their candidature. In order to be eligible for School funds, applicants must have applied at least once for Faculty and MRGS funds.

See Arts Travel Top Up scheme and MRGS Travel Grants. Awards may be granted for fieldwork and/or travel to conferences at which the student is presenting a paper. Any student applying to attend a conference should submit a plan demonstrating how the conference paper will result in a refereed, DIISR-reportable publication.

Doctoral students must consult section 4.3 Studying away from the University in the Doctoral and MPhil Handbook, and Masters students must consult chapter 5 of the Survival Guide, before applying to ensure that they meet all requirements concerning Study Away, travel approval and travel insurance.

Value: 

  • Up to $1,500 for international and up to $800 for domestic travel/ fieldwork.
