InATS1176, I am continuing to improve my ability to understand dialogues and texts on various topics about Korean society and culture, containing wider range of vocabulary and grammar structures. I am also refining my ability to understand different genres, through activities such as watching a Korean movie clips.

InATS1176, I am continuing to improve my reading and comprehension skills on various topics  about Korean culture and society, which are written for students of  intermediate level. I am also developing my ability to read wider types of authentic texts, such as movie/TV program scripts, websites, and extracts from magazines/ newspapers, which often include idiomatic expressions.

 

 

InATS1176, I am continuing to improve my ability to interact with others in various contexts, both prepared and unprepared, on familiar topics that are of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life. I am gaining increased confidence in communicating with others in more complex situations, e.g. offering solutions to problems faced. During the semester I am able to conduct a pair or a group dialogue (approx. 5-8 mins long) on a prepared topic.

InATS1176, I can also give my opinions about various topics if I prepare beforehand. I am gaining increased confidence in speaking more fluently, including natural intonation. At the end of the semester, I am able to give a 5-min presentation on a prepared topic, and also answer questions concerning the topic.

InATS1176, I am continuing to improve my writing skills practiced in ATS1175. Also, with the assistance of dictionaries and other language and content resources, I am able to incorporate new vocabulary and expressions in my writing. 

B1.1 Korean proficient 1

In ATS1175, I can understand simple conversations and texts on topics related to Korean society and culture, which are spoken in a variety of speech styles learnt in class. I am developing my ability to listen for main ideas even when I encounter unfamiliar vocabulary and grammar. I am also trained in answering questions.

In ATS1175, with the assistance of dictionary and vocabulary lists, I can read longer texts written for students of intermediate level.  I can also read texts for finding specific information as well as for catching main ideas. I am starting to practice reading wider types of authentic texts, including, manhwa (comics), advertisements, recipes, song lyrics, personal letters and diaries.

In ATS1175, I am gaining confidence to be more creative in my language use when interacting with peers in role plays on prepared topics. I can also engage in unprepared conversation on familiar topics that are of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life. I am also expanding my ability to communicate more naturally, using communication strategies, e.g. asking for clarification.

In ATS1175, I can describe and explain about various topics if I prepare beforehand, and also ask and answer related questions about these topics.

In ATS1175, using the vocabulary and grammar structures learnt in class, I can write a pair or group dialogue (450 – 675 words) and a short essay (225 words) on a topic pertinent to my personal interest.
