C1 CEFR I can understand extended speech even when it is not clearly structured and when relationships are only implied and not signalled explicitly. I can understand television programmes and films without too much effort. I can understand long and complex factual and literary texts, appreciating distinctions of style. I can understand specialised articles and longer technical instructions, even when they do not relate to my field. I can express myself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. I can use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes. C1+ Italian Studies In ATS3234/4234, I work on conversations  and debates about complex social, cultural, literary and political topics. I am able to understand  specialist language, i.e. political and  academic discourse. In ATS3234/4234, I understand colloquial language and common idioms and some regional expressions. I am accessing and understanding specialized articles on literary, political and social issues. In ATS3234/4234, I can report, offer and exchange views in extended interactions dealing with long and complex texts,  written, visual and aural, concerning the literary, social, and political spheres. In ATS3234/4234, I am able to demonstrate argumentative skills presenting clear and  reasoned views, as well as sustain extended exchange on fairly complex subjects. At the end of the semester, I can do a 15min individual oral presentation comparing two Italian films. In ATS3234/4234, I am able to write extended, well-structured, argumentative essays critiquing literary works, films. I can translate literary texts in a variety of genres from Italian to English and vice-versa. At the end of the semester, I can write a 2000 word critical composition on literary issues.
C1 Italian Studies In ATS3233/4233, I listen to and understand video programs, documentaries, feature films, interviews, oral reports, and speeches. In ATS3233/4233, I understand complex factual and literary texts in a wide variety of registers. I am comprehending a variety of opinions and implicit statements, i. e. satire and  irony. In ATS3233/4233, I am able to express ideas clearly and fluently in debates on a wide range of subjects, including current affairs, social and political events, cinema, literature. I can to discuss a wide range of issues and subjects with a special focus on literature. In ATS3233/4233, I am participating in group discussions about complex topics  including literary and other cultural issues, current affairs and socio-political events. At the end of the semester, I can do a 15min individual oral presentation on literary themes. In ATS3233/4233, I can develop expository and argumentative skills. I am able to summarize fairly complex texts from a variety of genres. I analyze and compare concrete and theoretical situations. I am able to present considered arguments in response to complex questions. At the end of the semester, I can write a 2500 word essay of literary criticism.
