A1 CEFR I can recognise familiar words and very basic phrases concerning myself, my family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly. I can understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices and posters or in catalogues. I can interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech and help me formulate what I’m trying to say. I can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics. I can use simple phrases and sentences to describe where I live and people I know. I can write simple phrases and isolated sentences.
A1+ In ATS1112, I can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance such as very basic personal and family information, shopping, campus geography. I have a global understanding of video and audio files that talk about family, friends and everyday situations such as hobbies, likes & dislikes, travel & shopping. I can catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements In ATS1112, I am able to read short simple texts (of approximately 300 words) written in a standard register. I am able to extract simple relevant information and understand basic written information about everyday life such as weather forecasts, menus, and travel. I am able to comprehend short simple cultural texts (200-300 words) In ATS1112, I can participate in short social exchanges based on role play. At the end of semester, I can interact for 10mins in an open dialogue on specific topics learned during the semester. In ATS1112, I am able to make a 10 min presentation with a partner and the use of notes and slides on a prepared topic related to travel and personal interests as part of my formal oral assessment for the semester. In ATS1112, I am able to write connected sentences on themes studied in the unit and in ATS1111. I am able to write coherently using simple grammatical structures or with imperfect structures but without losing meaning. I am required to write 2-3 sustained writing pieces of about 200 words in my final exam.

I can understand short audio files that provide very basic personal information. I can understand short, simple passages of text read out in class when the speaker is slow and clear. I may need information to be repeated to fully understand. In ATS1111, I can understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices, posters or flyers. I can read short pieces of informative text that give personal information, such as identity cards & class/ event timetables. I can read very short texts that talk about information with which I am already familiar such as shopping lists. In ATS1111, I can talk in simple language about everyday life activities and topics which include family, hobbies, weekend activities, weather, shopping etc. I can interact with others in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech. I can ask and answer simple questions on very familiar topics. In ATS1111, I can talk in simple language about everyday life topics such as family, hobbies, weekend activities, weather, shopping etc. with some deviation from standard grammar and syntax. I am still a little uncertain about pronunciation of some words and my intonation is not quite accurate or standard. In ATS1111, I am able to translate very basic sentences from Indonesian to English with minimal reference to a dictionary. I am able to write and spell vocabulary that I have learned during the semester. I can write basic sentences and questions that follow pre-learned patterns about family, hobbies, weather,  likes and dislikes etc
