The Head of JAIS and all Staff congratulate Senior Journalism lecturer Bill Birnbauer, upon receiving a Special Commendation from Monash University Vice Chancellor, Professor Ed Byrne, for his work on the Dangerous Ground website. The staff nominated for these awards, represent the highest level of excellence, innovation and best practice
The Special Commendation was awarded under the category of Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning 2013. Professor Byrne said the selection panel was “very impressed” with the work done on the site and that the nomination showed evidence of considerable achievement in learning and teaching.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for excellence are an annual celebration of outstanding achievements awarded to acknowledge excellence in teaching/research/performance by Monash staff across all campuses. The Vice-Chancellor’s Award winners or Citation recipients are subsequently encouraged to apply for a National Award/Citation in the following year or two by the Promoting Excellence Team.
Up to three awards are available for teaching excellence by individuals or teams. Each award consists of a medallion, a permanent citation on the Awards Gallery and Records and Archives website, and a grant of $5,000 to be used at the discretion of the award winner to further their teaching interests.
