The publishing industry is a significant employer of tertiary-educated staff in the long-established book and magazine sectors, and now also in the electronic publishing sector. Australia has a dynamic industry with annual publishing industry sales estimated around AUD$2 billion annually, including a sizeable export market in books and rights sales. More than 5,000 people are now employed in the Australian publishing industry in a range of roles (Australians for Australian Books).

Our graduates can be found employed nationally and internationally in large and niche editing and publishing companies as authors, publishers, editors, designers, production managers, publicists, sales managers, representatives and booksellers.
