It is also a supporter of “citizen journalism”. prides itself on producing honest, balanced and independent news amid an increasingly partisan media in Indonesia. Founded in March 2014, prior to the country’s most recent national elections, the website already employs over 50 full time staff, all of whom have experience working in a variety of media platforms.

About the Internship

Position: Social Media Intern
Starting Date: Flexible- Winter 2018, Semester 2 2018 and Summer A/B
Duration: Minimum 4 weeks to Maximum 3 month
Required days: 10:00am – 6:00pm, Monday – Friday (with some flexibility)

Role Description
Your role will primarily be based within the Social Media department. Your main areas of engagement will be to deliver effective social media campaigns relevant to and to source video interviews from everyday people. If your skill level permits, you can also be involved in the editing and final production of any video material gathered.

In this position, your general responsibilities may include:
• Working with the Social Media department at Suara to manage social media accounts and deliver effective social media campaigns;
• Monitoring and posting on forums, blogs, and other social networks;
• Increasing traffic to the organisation’s social media accounts;
• Conducting any relevant research for your department;
• Attending relevant events with partner organisations to promote the activities of;
• Participating in a video journalism project that will include interviewing members of the public about current issues in Indonesia. This project will require you to use your Indonesian language skills; and
• If your skill level permits, you can also be involved in the editing and final production of any video material gathered.

Other requirements
An intermediate level of Indonesian is required. You should have the ability to participate in conversational Indonesian and write to a basic level. English is also required.

You should be proactive and have a strong interest in Indonesian culture, with a desire to become immersed in the culture during your internship. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to this internship.
