Title: Safeguarding Children Services Intern

The Australian Childhood Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to the prevention of child abuse.

It provides specialist trauma counselling for children and young people who have experienced abuse, therapeutic out of home care programs, professional education and training, community based child abuse prevention activities and parenting education and resource programs.

Specifically, the Safeguarding Children Services assists organisations to:

  • Adopt a best-practice approach to protecting children
  • Provide parents with assurance that the organisation values and safeguards children
  • Promote a child-safe and child-friendly culture
  • Increase understanding of the risks to children and young people when in the care of organisations.

 

Duties:

The successful intern will be undertaking community and stakeholder engagement. This will also include research, analysis and writing. 

Key skills required:

  • Interest in and exposure to program development, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Ability to provide advice and/or develop written policies and procedural frameworks for organisations
  • An understanding of compliance and audit frameworks and how they benefit organisations
  • Sound communication skills, including report writing
  • Ability to undertake with oversight and support organisations needs analyses
  • Demonstrated commitment to a learning culture continuous improvement.
