About the Organisation

Komnas Perempuan is one of Indonesia’s three National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI). The other two are; the National Commission on Human rights (Komnas HAM) and the Indonesian Commission for the Protection of Children (KPAI).

Komnas Perempuan’s mission is to:

  • Build a condition which is conducive to the fulfillment of women’s human rights and the elimination of all forms of violence against women in Indonesia.
  • Increase the efforts to prevent and tackle all forms of violence against women in Indonesia.

About the Internship

Position: Research and Translation Intern
Starting Date: Flexible- Winter, Semester 2 2018 and Summer A/B 2019
Duration: 8 weeks minimum

Role Description
Komnas Perempuan understands that effective internships provide mutual benefit to both the intern and the host organization. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the situation of women’s human rights in Indonesia from leaders in the field, take part in the daily activities of the organization possibly including meetings, conferences, seminars, discussions and campaign events (depending on schedule). Interns are also welcome to carry out their own research projects and university related tasks whilst embedded with Komnas Perempuan.

Other Requirements:

  • Experience in formal and/or informal training and coaching (preferably language teaching related)
  • Experienced working/ living overseas
  • Understanding of Bahasa Indonesia and the Indonesian social and political context
  • Possess gender perspective.
