Ovarian Cancer Australia is a national body for ovarian cancer in Australia. They were founded in 2001 by a group of people who were personally affected by ovarian cancer, either themselves or through someone that they loved.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
Each year in Australia Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month is held in February to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and to recognise women, their families and friends affected by ovarian cancer. Throughout the month Ovarian Cancer Australia hosts a range of activities and events to raise awareness and funds for our support, awareness, advocacy and research programs.

Media and Communications Intern (Media and Communications students)
Key Responsibilities
-Contact case studies to secure for media interviews
-Liaise with local media to arrange stories and interviews with women
-Provide local journalists with background information, fact sheets, images etc
-Maintain database of media coverage
-Manage case studies database
-Pitching media releases to local newspapers on behalf of our corporate sponsor
-Media liaison on behalf of corporate sponsor

Key Selection Criteria
-Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
High level of initiative and ability to work independently;
-High level organisational and time management skills including balancing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
-Strong interpersonal skills, including an excellent phone manner;
-Interest in the not-for-profit sector and media campaign development and execution.
