Monash University English Languages Centre – Research Assistant (Summer B)

The English Language Centre is a division of Monash College Pty Ltd and has grown since 1988 to become one of the largest and most dynamic English language teaching and testing centres in Australia. The English Language Centre’s core business is to provide English language, academic and cultural skills preparation to international students who are transitioning to Foundation, Diploma and University programs in Australia and internationally as well as to over 5000 students per year on customised and integrated study tours. Monash College is an internationally renowned leader in transition education; preparing students for university and their future careers.

Reporting to the Manager of Learning and Teaching Quality, the focus of the Research Assistant role will be to assist in reporting on the impact of curriculum enhancements and innovation and capture research data from students and teachers on evidence of success and the effectiveness of these interventions.

The Research Assistant will also assist with data processing and documentation and preparing workshops and meetings.

Intake: Summer B
Duration: January to February– days to be negotiated
Location: Monash College, Bourke St, Melbourne
Recommended Disciplines: Master of Communications & Media Studies, Master of Applied Linguistics 

Skills/Experience 
• Well-developed planning and time management skills
• Experience in collecting and analysing complex data
• Excellent writing skills 
• Ability to translate findings to different audiences
• Strong computing skills and experience in using all programs in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to quickly learn new systems
• Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to draft reports, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders

Desirable
• The ability to speak a language other than English.
