Melbourne Women in Film Festival Internship (Summer B)

The Melbourne Women in Film Festival is a not-for-profit festival aimed at celebrating and supporting the work of women filmmakers and creatives – from directors, writers and producers to cinematographers, sound designers and editors. This annual festival endeavours to promote the many talented women who work within all areas of film production, and to encourage and inspire women with creative aspirations to pursue their passions with confidence.

The Melbourne Women in Film Festival is seeking 3 interns to assist in the lead up to their upcoming festival taking place around Melbourne’s CBD, February 22-25, 2018.

Recommended Disciplines: Master of Communications & Media Studies, Master of Journalism.

Intake: Summer B
Duration: 3 days a week
Location: Students will work from the Media Lab on the Caulfield Campus. During the festival itself (4 days in Feb), students be at alternating venues around the CBD – ACMI, Hoyts & VCA.

Interns will take part festival organisation activities, research and support tasks, and activities during the festival, and will work closely with the Festival Director and festival team.

Specific tasks and activities include:

Research
– Festival audience research and benchmarking
– Sponsorship research
– Film and filmmaker research including interviews and media asset creation (e.g. podcasts/vodcasts)
Marketing & promotion
– Social media campaign including social media content creation
– Press release writing
– Promotion distribution
Relationship building
– Assisting on building connections with local community networks
Event management
– Assisting in coordinating volunteers
– Session/event set up
– Front of house assistance
