Internships in Boston and New York

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Academic Internship Council to deliver internships in the USA. We start of this summer with six weeks internships in Boston and New York.

We hope to have details of the various projects up online by mid September.

AIC will be holding informational webinars at the end of the month about the Boston and NYC internship programs.  This will be a chance for students to learn more about the programs and also ask any questions they may have.  Below are the registration links.

Program Dates: 14 January 2017- 23 February 2017
Program Costs:

Six weeks Boston: 5,521 USD per student (7,400 AUD per student)

Six week Boston program without housing $3,085 USD per student ($4,105 AUD)

Six weeks New York City: 5,682 USD per student (7,615 AUD per student)

Six week NYC program without housing $3,285 USD per student  ($4,371 AUD)

Costs include:

  • Individual career assessment meetings via Skype and program orientation webinar
  • Internship placement via personalized process
  • Visa services or guidance (J-1 visa services for the USA, SEVIS Fee, and basic health insurance as required by US State Department)
  • On-site orientation to the city, program, and internship
  • Housing in student residences (shared double or triple room) for the duration of the program
  • Program management and full-time emergency support for duration of program
  • Workshops or materials on topics such as interviewing skills and working styles
  • Coaching and troubleshooting during the placement
  • Professional development components such as networking reception and industry lectures
  • Cultural exploration activities, including a city tour

Eligibility for Credit

1. You should meet the eligibility criteria to enrol in one of:

ATS3130 – Arts International Internship
ATS3919 – Journalism professional placement
ATS3775 – Theatre internship unit
ATS3948 – LLCL internship (undergraduate)
ATS3839 – Public relations internship

2. You should be studying a major releavant to the project.

3. You should have checked with Arts Students Services to confirm that you have room in your degree for one of these units.

This program can also be done ‘not for credit’*.

Scholarships & Funding

*Funding available to only students enrolled in a for credit unit.

All students enrolled will be eligible for $900 Monash Abroad Travel bursary plus travel insurance.

Domestic students may be eligible for interest free government loan (like HECS) of upto $6,500 through OS-HELP.
