About the Internship
Starting Date: Flexible
Duration: Minimum 1 month to Maximum 6 months
Required days: 9:00am – 6:00pm, Monday – Friday (with some flexibility)
Your role will primarily be based within the research and advocacy departments. The key objective of the internship will be to use your relevant knowledge and skills to provide effective and relevant research into the current issues surrounding corruption in Indonesia. This will take place in the form of summaries, reports, analyses and reviews.
Your role will be as an Advocacy and Research intern. However, if you do not have Indonesian language capabilities, the role will contain more research than advocacy, as much of the advocacy work requires background reading of documents in Indonesian. In this position, your general responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to:
- Conducting research reports on relevant issues;
- Researching and drafting background materials on pertinent issues and activities relating to ICW’s aims and goals;
- Preparing regular news summaries and updates on current issues of interest to ICW;
- Monitoring relevant websites of partner institutions to track developments within your area of research;
With Indonesian language your role may also include:
- Assisting with the organisation of advocacy meetings and other events;
- Attending advocacy meetings, conferences or policy briefings and preparing event reports and briefs;
- Providing general administrative support.
Your research topic will be determined by the specific area of focus of ICW at the time of your internship.
The tangible output of the work undertaken during this internship will likely include report writing, research papers, summaries, analysis documents and other general administrative support. Intangible output will most likely include the attendance of meetings, relevant events, conferences and online research. A final presentation of any report findings will be required at the conclusion of your internship.
• Only English is required. Indonesian skills would be useful but are not required for this internship.
• You should have a genuine interest in Indonesian culture and the process of reducing corruption in Indonesia.
• You should also be able to work independently and take initiative where required.
• You should learn as much as you can about ICW and the activities they are involved in, which you will be required to demonstrate during a Skype Interview.
• You are encouraged to bring your own laptop to this internship.
The fee charged by International Internships (Service Provider) is in addition to the tuition fees for the unit ATS3130. Accommodation and in-country support packages are optional but highly recommended.
Travel insurance is provided by Monash University. It will cover you for personal travel prior to and after your overseas program, and includes access to 24-hour a day medical and emergency assist services.
