About the Organisation

Austrade regularly recruits interns to participate in its long running internship program. Some Austrade offices in Europe run internship programs, giving Australian and international students’ insight into the functions of a government Trade and Investment Promotion Agency and experience working in an Embassy or a Consulate environment.

About the Internship

  • September 2018 – December 2018 ( Semester 2- Summer A)
  • January 2019 – March 2019 (Summer B- Semester 1 2019)

Duration: 12 weeks

Role Description:

Interns to the Australian Trade Commission are typically involved with the following activities:

  • Market research for key industry sectors
  • Assistance with events and activities to promote Australian capability and Australia as an investment and education destination
  • Communication with French companies and professionals
  • Writing and updating market information, briefs and reports
  • General office assistance

Interns should meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent communication skills in a professional setting
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • A high level of organisation and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • An interest in international trade and investment
  • Comfort using French at an upper intermediate level


Austrade interns receive a small monthly stipend for duties and a contribution to a local travel card, as per French government regulations. Interns should anticipate that they will need to fund the cost of international travel, accommodation, health insurance and standard living costs.

Successful candidates will have to undergo Austrade’s security/vetting check prior to commencement.
