“Speaking Your Languages”: the Victorian Multicultural Commission Languages Forum was held on Thursday 30 September 2010 on the occasion of International Translation Day.
The Forum was a celebration of Victoria’s linguistic diversity and was a great opportunity to raise awareness of interpreting and translation services, and discuss the value of bilingualism and languages other than English (LOTE) in our community.
On this occasion, the research team presented the project and student-elderly pairs representing each of the three languages of the project shared their experiences, in their respective language, and inspired the audience, amongst them the Victorian Minister for Multicultural Affairs James Merlino, with the bond they have formed over the past months of project phase one.

Sadly Professor Michael Clyne passed away on 29 October 2010 and the Project team and the Monash community deeply mourn our loss.
We as a team will, however, ensure his spirit of enthusiasm for multilingualism and multiculturalism lives on in the project and in future projects.
