The International Journal of Indonesian Studies [ISSN 2203-4692] is a new online, inter-disciplinary journal dedicated to the publication and promotion of early career researchers from Indonesia whose work focuses on Indonesian issues and subjects/topics.
IJIS intends to redress the lack of opportunities for young, early career researchers from Indonesia to publish their work in English after critical review by a panel of international experts in specific fields. The Editors also anticipate IJIS will contribute to the enhancement of new scholarship in Indonesian studies as well as fostering collaborations between international scholars and emerging Indonesian researchers.
Indonesia is continuing to develop in regional stature and influence in South East Asia, the Asia-Pacific Region, as well as internationally. For these reasons, a peer-reviewed, online, open access journal is deemed crucial in facilitating greater understanding of Indonesia’s culture and history, its challenges and its human and natural resources, so as to help clarify the role Indonesia can play in each of these contexts.
As a free access, online resource IJIS is also designed to promote a more accessible form of scholarly exchange. The International Journal of Indonesian Studies invites your contribution to advancing this important dialogue.
