Master of Tourism

The Master of Tourism at Monash is Australia’s leading, longest-running and most innovative industry-focused postgraduate tourism program. It recognises that rapid global change is increasing the demand for highly skilled practitioners in the international tourism industry.

Based on innovative research into emerging tourism fields, focused industry engagement, and practical field experience in Australia and abroad, the course is designed to prepare students for an international career in tourism management.

It has a strong focus on emerging economies, and how the tourism industry can be harnessed to maximise the benefits for these nations.

Experiential Learning – International Opportunities

Students have the opportunity to participate in study tours and field schools, both in Australia and overseas.

Each year, students can attend an international field school in an emerging economy such as Fiji or Vietnam, where they have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the development of the industry.
