Master of Journalism and Master of International Relations

This double master’s program provides a comprehensive introduction to the nature of the international political system and some of the key issues in contemporary international relations. It is intended as an entry-level qualification for a professional journalism career, and a mid-career course for working journalists seeking to extend their expertise and refresh the intellectual basis of their practice.

The course aims to develop an understanding of theories and issues in international relations and an ability to critically analyse and communicate them. Strong professional research and reporting skills in a range of media technologies and formats, an understanding of the role of journalism and the media in local, national, and international contexts, and an ability to contribute to the role of professional and ethical journalism in the service of the public right to know are also key areas the course focuses on.
