Welcome to the website of the School of Geography and Environmental Science at Monash University.

Our School is one of the largest and most active geography schools in the country. We teach both at undergraduate level (primarily, for the Faculties of Science and Arts) and at postgraduate level. All of our teaching reflects a concern with the sustainability and resilience of the human occupation and stewardship of the Earth’s environments.

A hallmark of our School is the diverse and vigorous research carried out by our staff and postgraduate research scholars. This spans natural environments and their evolution (including climate change and variability), human settlements, agriculture, international development, resource appropriation and management (including a major focus on water resources), and Australian indigenous archaeology. We house several specialist research centres, including the Centre for Geographical Information Systems. Research is conducted both in our own laboratories and at field locations across Australia and internationally.

I invite you to explore our diverse teaching and research programs using this web site. If you have questions or would like additional information on any of our activities, please use the email links provided for each member of staff, or contact me directly for assistance.
