All geography and environmental science subjects are fully accredited within both the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science at Monash.
A major sequence in geography and/or environmental science (a full program of study to third-year level) can be undertaken within the Bachelor of Arts degree, the Bachelor of Science degree and the Bachelor of Environmental Science degree, as well as within any of the double degree programs involving arts and other study areas (e.g. Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering, to name just a few of many examples).
By undertaking an extra year of study in geography and environmental science, students who qualify with good results in their undergraduate geography subjects can complete their degree with honours (e.g. Bachelor of Science or Arts with Honours).
Within the Bachelor of Environmental Science degree program, geography contributes subjects in two of the five core areas (atmospheric science and geography). An atmospheric science discipline sequence with core subjects from geography is also available within the Bachelor of Science degree.
Even if you do not want to pursue a full sequence in geography and environmental science, most degree programmes will allow you to undertake some of our subjects.
With permission of the Head of School it may be possible to undertake some later year geography and environmental science subjects without having completed the necessary pre-requisites where the student has a good undergraduate record and is undertaking study in a cognate area (e.g. earth sciences, biology, history, etc).
