Child and youth development

Available in South Africa only.

Poor early life experiences of children and adolescents, which can lead to harmful outcomes like underachievement, behavioural problems and crime, is the major focus in the study of child and youth development. Students learn to assess the needs of at-risk children, and to design and implement programs that encourage positive behaviour into the everyday life of children and youth across a variety of settings such as child care, school and juvenile justice. Students also explore what to do when intervention is needed on someone’s behalf.
