Padmasiri de Silva obtained the Ph.D in comparative Philosophy (University of Hawaii) and the Advanced Diploma in Counselling (Sophia College Perth) and is currently, Adjunct Research Associate of Monash University. He was formerly Professor and Head/Philosophy, University of Peradeniya (1980-89), and held visiting positions in USA, Singapore and New Zealand. He is the author of number of books in Buddhist philosophy, ethics and emotion studies, includingEnvironmental Philosophy and Ethics in Buddhism,1998, Macmillan, London, St.Martins Press, New York.
