What’s involved in writing, directing and distributing a webseries? How have webseries’ encouraged new types of storytelling? What are the benefits of working in digital spaces? How are webseries’ disrupting traditional types of television?

Sally McLean is an award-winning actress, screenwriter, director and playwright working across theatre, television and film. McLean is currently working as creator/director/producer (and ensemble member) with the online Shakespeare project Shakespeare Republic, which is now in its second season. Shakespeare Republic has received international acclaim winning Best Digital Series at the CINE Golden Eagle Awards, among others.
Scott Dale is a Melbourne-based filmmaker who has directed a number of music videos, commercials, and a sketch comedy web-series. In 2016, Dale released Beyond the Water’s Edge, an emotionally charged seven-part web-series for which he served as writer and director. Beyond the Water’s Edge was nominated for Best Australian Drama, Best Cinematography, Best Score and Best Sound Design at the WebFest 2017.
Jason Byrne is an independent producer with numerous credits including feature films, documentary and webseries. He has also produced many internationally recognised TV commercials and award-winning short films. Most recently, Byrne produced the web series, Bruce, which was nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Australian Comedy and Best Directing, and took home the award for Best Screenplay at WebFest 2017.
