Trans-Asia Workshop

‘Stories of Subversive, Subversive Stories: A Critique of Indonesia’s Politics of Identity’

The rise of digital communication and social media has revolutionarily opened up the potential of newly engendering cross-border alliance, social movements, activisms and affective publics.  However, what has also been generated is group polarisation, hate speech and fake news. This brainstorming workshop aims to revisit the “political” potential, and limitation, of digital communication and social media by considering some cases in Asian contexts.

We invite an expressions of interest from researchers in giving a 10-15 minute talk to lead the discussion.

Please send expressions of interest to:
mai-enquiries@monash.edu
by 8 September.

If you are interested in participating in the workshop,
please RSVP to: mai-enquiries@monash.edu
no later than 15 September.

Light lunch will be provided.
