Free Lunchtime Concert – Monash New Music Ensemble & Monash Electronic Music Ensemble

The Monash New Music Ensemble concert is the outcome of a semester’s work of the Monash New Music Ensemble under the guidance of Erkki Veltheim. Erkki is an Australian composer, performer, improviser and interdisciplinary artist with substantial experience in the field of explorative music-making. Part of the program will be the first performance of the winning work of the Monash University Composition Prize 2017.

The Electronic Music Ensemble investigates ways in which the computer, various human user interfaces, traditional electronic instruments and effects can be integrated into conventional music-making contexts. The ensemble features conceptual, improvised and directed works exploring sound, music and noise. Directed by Ben Grayson, the ensemble will feature students from the creative music technology stream and the wider Monash music community. Student arrangements and compositions are encouraged within this group, and participation is open to any student enrolled at Monash University, both music and non-music majors.
