School Visits

During the Centre’s first round of funding, in 2008 schools outreach focussed on university students taking the European Studies message into the classroom.

Interns Katrina Murray and Lillian Goldsmith visited Glen Waverley Secondary School and Fintona Girls Grammar.  Of special interest to the enthusiastic students was information regarding Erasmus Mundus and student exchanges in the EU.

Katrina Murray and administrator Amanda Crichton participated in the EUrope in Bendigo, a three-day event representing the European Commission Delegation in Canberra, seven Member States embassies, the Innovative Universities European Union Centre, La Trobe University and the MEEUC.

Aurélien Mazuy presented to about 30 VCE students in Canberra at the Canberra College, Woden campus.  Topics covered included economic aspects of the EU, the “no” vote on the Lisbon Treaty by Irish citizens and a quiz on the Euro and the 27 Member States.  This activity supported by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and the Delegation of the European Commission to Australia and New-Zealand.
